We are the only ones who can change our thoughts. It’s our choice to think about something. Now we all have weird and crazy thoughts, but we can choose to think about them or to dismiss them. This is one way we fight the raging battle for our mind.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
The Holy Spirit is within us, empowering us and helping us in our constant fight... if we let Him. That’s why we need to keep our inner dialogue with Him going - I think that’s what it means to “pray constantly.” If we don’t do this we run the risk of going the other direction, one the devil is enthusiastically trying to lead us, towards confusion, anxiety, fear, and sin.
Make your prayer a dialogue with the Lord through the day. Continuously choose which thoughts to think about and which to dismiss and get help from the Holy Spirit. You’ve got this!
