We humans are naturally and instinctively selfish, we crave acknowledgement, recognition and love. These desires are often the motivation for our actions, especially the good and gracious ones - but God said:
“In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:16 NLT
As followers of Christ, we need to shift our motivation to the desire to love and please God - not to earn anything though. There is nothing you or I can do to make God love me more or to cause Him to love me less than He does at this moment. His love is complete and forever. God wants us to be a light that attracts others to Him. Are you shining?
