Mary has an amazing (understatement) encounter with the archangel, Gabriel - and it changed the world. Her humility and faith are an example to us. Of course, God would have fulfilled His promise of a Messiah even if Mary had said no, but she didn’t - and her sacrifice was HUGE. It looked like she had committed adultery and the punishment was death. Death.
