Prayer is one of those things that is so personal and private we don’t talk about it much. Jesus prayed A LOT... and He told us how to do it:
“Don’t be like them (the Gentiles), for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:8-13 NLT
Notice Jesus didn’t once ask God to do something His way. He taught us to ask for God’s will, enough to eat, the strength and faith to forgive and love, and protection from evil. Does God care about the other stuff we pray about? I think He cares more about the relationship than some of our little requests.
