Persecuted, Not Abandoned

Christians in other countries, like China or Iran, think that being persecuted is normal. The Bible tells them to expect it and to count it as joy. What does the same Bible tell Christians in the a western world? Does God’s Word say that our laws and government should defend the Church? It’s nice that the Church enjoys some protection under the law and that people are even allowed to exempt their tithe from taxable income, but it’s not expected in scripture.

Billy Graham said, “I am convinced that the current popularity of evangelical Christianity in America will be short-lived. The Bible teaches, and history confirms it, that it never hurts the church to go through the furnace. Peter indicated that persecution is not a “strange” happening as far as Christians are concerned. He tells his readers, “Don’t be surprised when it comes. Be surprised if it doesn’t come!””

In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. — 2 Timothy 3:12

Can you handle it? What would you do if you had to suffer for your faith? How would you handle it? #pressedbutnotcrushed #persecutednotforgotten #christianliving #billygraham #standfirminyourfaith #countitalljoy #shallm #yourjourneytobeingwhole #dailydevotional
