Our Part is to Love
This is a very good lesson for us to remember... Jesus told us to love one another. Period. That’s it, and that’s all. Sometimes we need to love people even harder and more deliberately to keep hatred from entering our hearts, minds and spirits. This doesn’t mean that we allow people who are unsafe into our lives. Showing compassion for a sinner doesn’t mean you invite him to dinner. Jesus did that, but He was God and He knew who was safe and who wasn’t - plus He was God. We rely on Holy Spirit to help us discern who to become closer to, minister to, or pray for from a distance. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
Slandering and judging and speaking evil of another is not OK if you’re a Christian. How can you show Christ’s love today?
“So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.” 1 Peter 2:1 ESV
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV
