There was a time when my pursuit of holiness became attempted perfection. I felt like a failure when I missed the mark - and of course that happened a lot because I’m human. I had to learn more about God’s infinite grace and what holiness really is… and isn’t.
Holiness is about being set apart for God’s purposes and use | NOT being like others and the world. Perfection is about living up to the world’s definitions and standards. Pursuing perfection is what many cults teach, but our Lord teaches us that the heart full of compassion and love is what we’re after. And a spirit He develops In us that brings peace, is patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and acts with self-control. This is the race we run towards Jesus.
