Sometimes, as “seasoned” Christians, we don’t maintain a teachable spirit. Sometimes we think we’ve studied enough and God has taught us this lesson already, so we don’t pay attention to the Teacher. Maybe it’s prideful or maybe it’s just weariness, but either way it’s just plain wrong.
We are disciples of Christ. This means we are following the teaching and discipline He offers every day a not just sometimes and not just when we’re young. It also means we are asking Him to teach us, to lead us and to help us every day.
