We want to be happy. We want peace in our lives. But, do we want to live plugged in and obedient to God? This is what it means to abide in Him - that we purposefully live with Him every day, that we pursue His words every day, and that we actually do what He says every day.

Will we mess up? Yes! Will we act selfishly? Of course we will, we’re human. God asks us to follow, not to be perfect. GOD is the one who makes us righteous, not our own actions, we just need to live close to Him so that we are abiding in Him. The promise is HUGE - “ask what you desire, and it will be given to you.” Of course, when we are abiding in God, we are following Him and His will - He abides in us.
